About The Position

The Operating Room Assistant (ORA) cleans and terminally cleans the operating room, PACU, and other assigned locations. The role supports care for inpatients and outpatients undergoing surgical procedures and helps maintain the daily operational flow of the unit, assisting the OR team with patient care delivery and efficiency. The ORA works under the supervision of the ORA Supervisor and OR leadership.

This is a full-time day position scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with call. The 10-week training period begins at 6:45 a.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and write to comprehend written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work independently.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Ability to operate standard cleaning devices while following safety-compliance guidelines.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and universal precautions.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of environmental services experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general and terminal cleaning in the operating room and other assigned areas daily, between procedures, and as required by organizational and infection-control protocols; maintain a clean and orderly OR environment.
• Gather appropriate equipment and positioning devices to assist with OR procedures, and report equipment or positioning devices that need repair.
• Order and stock OR suites and general areas with linens and supplies; restock specialty carts as assigned when trained.
• Transport carts, instruments, supplies, and equipment to various departments as assigned.
• Transport blood and blood products, specimens, and patients as directed.
• Follow attendance and OR attire policies, maintain annual training requirements, accept direction, and follow written and verbal instructions promptly and accurately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
