Open Systems Architecture Systems Engineer Intern

Space Dynamics Laboratory•North Logan, UT
•Onsite

About The Position

Space Dynamics Laboratory’s internship program gives undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to contribute to professional-level assignments involving space-, airborne-, and ground-based systems, with support from engineers and mentors. The program also offers training workshops, networking opportunities, and summer events and activities. The Strategic Military Space Division is seeking an entry-level engineering intern to support the Battlestar program with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) standards and interface control document (ICD) validation. The intern will work with experienced engineers and mentors on a cloud-based enterprise ground system supporting dynamic space operations. The position is located onsite in North Logan, Utah, and is for summer 2027. The selected candidate must be available for up to 12 weeks and provide onsite support no later than Monday, June 7th. Interns receive a competitive hourly wage and are assigned work appropriate to their experience and project needs. Continued employment or transition to student/full-time employment may be possible and would require security-clearance eligibility. SDL internships are intended for students from across the nation. Utah State University students are not eligible for SDL internship positions and are encouraged to explore SDL’s Student Employment opportunities, which provide year-round hands-on experience and professional development. SDL delivers multi-domain solutions supporting national security and scientific discovery, drawing on expertise in satellites, sensors and instruments, ground systems and data processing, and autonomous systems for missions supporting NASA and the Department of Defense. SDL describes its culture as based on respect, collaboration, empowerment, and accountability. The application window is expected to remain open for approximately seven days, but may change based on business needs and candidate availability.
