The Colorado School of Mines is seeking to fill three open-rank Teaching Faculty or Professor of Practice positions in Mechanical Engineering to support the launch of a new Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree at their Guam campus. These positions will be housed in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and will be instrumental in undergraduate education, curriculum development, and program growth for the new BSME program. The faculty will be located in Guam as part of a STEM education initiative in collaboration with ASTRO America, the Government of Guam, the University of Guam, and Guam Community College. Students will complete their upper-division coursework for mechanical engineering on Guam and receive a degree from Colorado School of Mines upon successful completion. The positions are open to various ranks, including Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor, Teaching Professor, or Professor of Practice, depending on the candidate's qualifications. The school is looking for faculty passionate about undergraduate education, hands-on learning, and industry-relevant engineering practice, who are eager to contribute to building a new mechanical engineering program. One of the three hires may also serve as the administrative head of the BSME program at the Mines Guam campus, providing academic leadership, coordinating with Mines leadership, overseeing curriculum implementation, and supporting program operations. Candidates interested in this administrative role should indicate it in their cover letter. The positions are categorized into three distinct areas of expertise: Solid Mechanics, Machine Design, and Materials; Thermal-Fluid Systems, Circuits, Instrumentation, and Automation; and Mechatronics and Manufacturing.
