About The Position

Penn State Altoona invites applications for a combined teaching and tutoring position in Mathematics or Statistics. This position is a 12-month, 36-week, non-tenure track appointment for fall and spring semesters beginning Fall 2026. The initial appointments are for one year with a possibility of continuance based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding. The position is a full-time, Non-Tenure-Line Instructor or Open Rank Teaching Professor position in mathematics or statistics that is half teaching and half tutoring in the campus Student Success Center. Penn State Altoona is a two-campus, four-year baccalaureate institution located in the Allegheny Mountains of Central Pennsylvania, offering 22 baccalaureate degrees, five associate degrees, and the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors. It provides the advantages of a small college teaching environment with the readily available resources of a major research university.

Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of an M.S. or Ph.D. in either Mathematics or Statistics or a B.S./B.A. in either Mathematics or Statistics and an M.S. or Ph.D. in a closely related discipline

  • Submit at least three letters of reference (two of which should specifically address the applicant’s teaching and/or tutoring)
  • Complete the Penn State application and also submit an application through Mathjobs.org

Responsibilities
