About The Position

Teaching Positions in Mathematics or Statistics Penn State Altoona invites applications for one or more full-time, Non-Tenure-Line Instructor or Open Rank Teaching Professor positions in Mathematics or Statistics. This position is a 12-month, 36-week, non-tenure track appointment for fall and spring semesters beginning Fall 2026. The initial appointments are for one year with a possibility of continuance. Qualifications and Teaching Responsibilities: Primary duties include teaching mathematics and statistics courses as needed by the department. Candidates must possess a minimum of an M.S. or Ph.D. in either Mathematics or Statistics. Qualified candidates in all areas of mathematics and statistics will be considered. Other Responsibilities: Engage in scholarly activities to stay current in the discipline; participate in curriculum and course assessment, undergraduate academic advising, and perform academic reviews; participate in campus, university, and professional service activities, and outreach to the community.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a minimum of an M.S. or Ph.D. in either Mathematics or Statistics
Submit a letter of application establishing their qualifications
Submit a current curriculum vitae
Submit a description of teaching philosophy and evidence of teaching effectiveness
Submit transcripts (official transcripts required at the time of an interview)
Submit at least three letters of reference. Two of the letters of reference should specifically address the applicant’s teaching
Applicants must complete the Penn State application and must also submit an application through Mathjobs.org (https://www.mathjobs.org/) with the following materials for the application to be complete: • Cover letter • Curriculum Vitae • Teaching Statement • At least three reference letters uploaded to Mathjobs.org with your application (two letters must address in detail the candidate’s abilities as a teacher.)
