About The Position

Teaching Positions in Mathematics or Statistics Penn State Altoona invites applications for one or more full-time, Non-Tenure-Line Instructor or Open Rank Teaching Professor positions in Mathematics or Statistics. This position is a 12-month, 36-week, non-tenure track appointment for fall and spring semesters beginning Fall 2026. The initial appointments are for one year with a possibility of continuance. Qualifications and Teaching Responsibilities: Primary duties include teaching mathematics and statistics courses as needed by the department. Candidates must possess a minimum of an M.S. or Ph.D. in either Mathematics or Statistics. Qualified candidates in all areas of mathematics and statistics will be considered. Other Responsibilities: Engage in scholarly activities to stay current in the discipline; participate in curriculum and course assessment, undergraduate academic advising, and perform academic reviews; participate in campus, university, and professional service activities, and outreach to the community.

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of an M.S. or Ph.D. in either Mathematics or Statistics
  • Submit a letter of application establishing their qualifications
  • Submit a current curriculum vitae
  • Submit a description of teaching philosophy and evidence of teaching effectiveness
  • Submit transcripts (official transcripts required at the time of an interview)
  • Submit at least three letters of reference. Two of the letters of reference should specifically address the applicant’s teaching
  • Applicants must complete the Penn State application and must also submit an application through Mathjobs.org (https://www.mathjobs.org/) with the following materials for the application to be complete: • Cover letter • Curriculum Vitae • Teaching Statement • At least three reference letters uploaded to Mathjobs.org with your application (two letters must address in detail the candidate’s abilities as a teacher.)
