About The Position

Sacred Heart University’s Farrington College of Education & Human Development (FCEHD), located in Fairfield, CT, invites applications for a full-time, 9-month teaching faculty position (open rank) within the Department of Teacher Education. This faculty member will serve as a generalist in the teacher education program, with primary teaching responsibilities in elementary education and clinical practice (fieldwork/student teaching). In addition, the successful candidate will bring expertise in supporting multilingual learners (MLLs) and will play a key role in integrating linguistically responsive and inclusive practices across the teacher education curriculum. The successful candidate will teach courses in both undergraduate and graduate teacher education with responsibilities including teaching, advising, and participating in service activities that support the university’s mission. The anticipated start date is Fall 2026.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Teacher Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Elementary Education, Multilingual Education, or a closely related field (ABD considered with completion required by start date)
  • Demonstrated experience teaching in P-12 or higher education settings
  • Experience working with or supporting multilingual learners (MLLs) in P–12 or teacher education settings
  • Evidence of effective teaching and commitment to equity-focused, inclusive pedagogy
  • Experience with or strong interest in clinical supervision and field-based teacher preparation

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses across the teacher education curriculum, including:
  • Education methods courses (e.g., literacy, content-area instruction)
  • Foundations and/or curriculum courses
  • Courses connected to clinical practice and field experiences
  • Supervise and mentor teacher candidates during clinical placements, including observation, feedback, and evaluation
  • Collaborate with faculty to infuse multilingual learner (MLL) pedagogy across courses and program experiences
  • Contribute to ongoing program development, curriculum design, and continuous improvement, including alignment with state standards and accreditation requirements
  • Serve as an advisor and mentor to students
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service
