About The Position

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a motivated individual for a full-time position as an informaticist within the Pulmonary Translational Core (PTraC). This role involves assisting with all aspects of data procurement, management, and analysis for clinical/translational research. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and a strong interest in improving the lives of people with acute and chronic lung diseases. The PTraC is composed of 4 sub-cores: Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Regulatory Affairs, Lung Tissue Biorepository, and Clinical Coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or related field.
  • One (1) year data management and bioinformatic analyses experience (for Intermediate Level).
  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience analyzing data using high-performance computing.
  • Strong knowledge of basic statistical principles relevant in medical research.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches.
  • Demonstrated fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g., R, Python, Perl, Java, C++) and willingness to learn new programming languages as necessary.
  • Familiarity with statistical analytical concepts and methods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and submission of IRB protocols and amendments.
  • Survey design and data collection.
  • Data management using HIPAA-compliant management and transfer protocols.
  • Planning and attending study meetings.
  • Remote and/or in-person meetings collaborating sites and participation in annual meetings.
  • Opportunity to participate in data synthesis, manuscript preparation, authorship, and publication.
