About The Position

The Department of Ophthalmology seeks Entry-Intermediate Laboratory Science Professionals to assist with investigator-initiated projects in the areas of retinal biology and stem cell technologies. The successful candidate will join the ExoSight-The Human Stem Cells Exosomes lab, within the context of the CellSight Program, a cross-disciplinary team of investigators working in a highly collaborative environment with the common goal of developing novel stem cell-based therapeutics to treat ocular diseases as well as new methodologies to diagnose ocular disorders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) year professional level research experience
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Software programs.
  • Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field and experience with data analysis
  • Specific work experience in molecular, biochemical or cell biology techniques.
  • Experience with Data Science
  • Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions
  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects
  • Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research
  • Independently and creatively identify laboratory solutions
  • Independently Review, develop and implement new or modified laboratory techniques required for research projects
  • Strong expertise in confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, tissue cryosectioning, and Western blot analysis, with hands-on experience supporting translational research, cellular imaging, and molecular biology studies.
  • Expertise in Extracellular Vesicles, isolation and characterization with NTA and nanoFCM.
