The Division of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a General Otolaryngologist. Applicants should be BC/BE by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, and the position is available at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level based on prior experience and training. Salary is commensurate with rank, training and experience. This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Faculty in the UNM Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery division, providing education to medical students and residents within the University. UNM Health Sciences Center is the only tertiary care referral center and only Level I trauma center in a large area of the southwestern United States serving a very diverse population. The faculty within the Division, Department and throughout the Health Sciences Center all have a strong commitment to the mission of UNM in providing care for all patients of New Mexico and educating our future healthcare providers. You would be an integral educator for our residents and medical students. We currently have 3 residents per year and are proud to match students from all over the country. Our residents frequently graduate with operative numbers in the 90th percentile, helping us to support their application in any fellowship and feel confident in those who choose General Otolaryngology. Faculty within the Division of Otolaryngology have the opportunity to mentor medical students, undergraduate students and to participate in several pipeline initiatives in our “Communities to Careers” programs. The Division of Otolaryngology faculty currently represents the breadth of fellowship trained subspecialists, but we also pride ourselves in maintaining a collegial, and truly family-like team. We are a supportive group with all members willing to step up and help one another. Abundant research opportunities exist within the UNM-HSC. Faculty within the Division of Otolaryngology have had successful clinical trials, multi-institutional projects and extensive grant funding. Collaboration is supported through our Department of Surgery research support team, the UNM Cancer Center, partnerships with our Main Campus and with the Clinical and Translational Research Centers. New Mexico is the home of two national laboratories, Sandia and Los Alamos. Kirtland Air Force Base houses the Air Force Research Laboratory within the city of Albuquerque. New Mexico is also a “Minority-Majority” state, with rich cultural ties to the Hispanic and Native American communities. The Santa Fe Opera is world renown and Taos Ski Valley has become a major ski/snowboard destination. Our patients represent all these communities, and we are truly fortunate to serve such a diverse patient population. All New Mexico residents qualify for free childcare and college tuition. The Legislature just passed a bill for Health Professionals to receive $75,000/year up to $300,000 in loan forgiveness.
