About The Position

The University of New Mexico (UNM) Department of Emergency Medicine seeks full-time physician faculty members to join our growing academic emergency medicine team. Faculty members will provide high-quality clinical care across our academic and community hospital settings while supporting the Department's nationally recognized education, research, and community engagement missions. Opportunities for academic involvement will be aligned with each candidate's interests, experience, and expertise. The Department of Emergency Medicine has 88 full-time and part-time attending physicians. We provide classroom and clinical education for the EMS Academy, as well as medical, pharmacy, and PA students. Our physician training programs have excellent national reputations and include our EM residency and fellowships in Pediatric EM, EMS, Ultrasound, Wilderness, Sports Medicine, and Medical Education. We have identified the need in academic areas of expertise in PEM, EMS, Informatics, Simulation, Ultrasound, Medical Toxicology, Quality, and Operations. UNM Hospital is New Mexico's only Level I Trauma Center, the only Children’s Hospital, and the state's first Comprehensive Stroke Center. UNM Health System providers specialize in over 150 areas and receive 900,000 outpatient visits, 22,000 surgical cases, and approximately 100,000 emergency room visits each year. The School of Medicine (SOM), created in 1964, is celebrated for its research discoveries and innovations in medical education and has earned a reputation for prioritizing diversity in the physician and health professions workforce. Requirements

MD or DO degree.
Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine.
3 to 5 years of directly related experience, which may include time spent in residency and fellowship.
State of New Mexico Medical license or equivalent and Federal DEA Certification at time of hire.
