About The Position

The University of New Mexico (UNM), recognized as a Best National University by US News, is seeking an Open Rank - Clinician Educator to join a supportive academic environment. This role offers 10% protected time for research, teaching, and administrative duties, with the possibility of additional time based on individual interests. The position is led by a director committed to faculty career growth, providing opportunities to develop sub-specialty interests, work in a new 9-floor ICU/ED/OR tower opening in October 2025, earn supplementary income through "moonlighting" at a nearby affiliated hospital, and potentially obtain J1 visa sponsorship. Protected time is allocated for teaching, research, and administrative work, with opportunities for additional protected time. Teaching medical students and mentoring internal medicine residents is a key aspect, aiming to renew idealism in the medical profession. Administrative roles have included significant positions like Deputy Secretary of Health for New Mexico, Director of Telehealth, Executive Director of the University Medical Group, ACC New Mexico chapter Governor, President of SCAI, and Executive Vice Chair of Internal Medicine. Board certified/board eligible in Cardiovascular Disease by date of hire
Board certification/board eligible in Echocardiography by date of hire
Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Provide 10% of time protected for research, teaching, and administrative work, with additional time possible.
