About The Position

This Graduate Nursing faculty position is a twelve-month, full-time, tenure-track OR contract role responsible for the successful delivery of graduate nursing curriculum. The position involves teaching, administrative responsibilities, and potentially scholarly activities for tenure-track roles. The faculty member will serve as a Course Coordinator, overseeing curriculum, faculty, and student experience for assigned courses, ensuring academic rigor and alignment with institutional standards. Responsibilities include managing the educational process, supporting curricular development, overseeing student experience and resolving issues, and supervising Section Instructors. For contract roles, professional engagement and maintaining currency in the discipline are expected. For tenure-track roles, scholarly research, publication, and professional development are required.

Requirements

  • Must hold a nursing degree at the Master’s level or higher
  • Must have a doctoral degree [DNSc, DNP or other doctoral degree (PhD or EdD)] for a teaching track contract or tenure-track position
  • For practice track contract positions, must be in the process of completing a doctoral degree [DNSc, DNP or other doctoral degree (PhD or EdD)], or be willing to enroll in a doctoral program with the ability to complete it within five years
  • Must have current FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner), CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife), AGPCNP (Adult-gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner), or WHNP (Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner) national board certification
  • Experienced, board certified APRN license required (FNP, WHNP, AGPCNP or CNM)
  • Current women’s health clinical practice is required
  • At least 5 years of applicable clinical experience for contract faculty candidates without a doctoral degree
  • Must obtain/maintain Massachusetts RN license
  • Massachusetts APRN license required for any Boston campus-based teaching
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students across a broad range of social and personal identities and perspectives

Responsibilities

  • Teaching graduate nursing courses
  • Serving as Course Coordinator for assigned courses
  • Managing program needs and day-to-day operations related to assigned courses
  • Overseeing curriculum, faculty, and overall student experience in coordinated sections
  • Ensuring academic rigor and curricular alignment
  • Making recommendations for course development and revisions
  • Working with the course iteration team to realize changes
  • Vetting and hiring adjunct faculty for online course sections
  • Ensuring faculty readiness and mentoring other Section Instructors
  • Managing the educational process to ensure a positive educational experience for students and instructors
  • Eliciting, supporting, and implementing curricular revision and development
  • Reviewing assessment methods for designated courses
  • Managing and updating content within designated courses for continuous quality improvement
  • Assisting in investigating and resolving escalated student educational issues and staff/faculty matters
  • Monitoring the overall student experience in designated courses
  • Overseeing and ensuring consistency in all grading practices
  • Communicating with the Operations team and program leadership regarding course, instructor, and/or student-related problems
  • Collaborating with Office of Student Affairs and Office of Accessibility Services on student concerns
  • Reviewing final student grades for distribution curve and handling escalated issues
  • Providing faculty Section Instructor mentoring, training, evaluation, and development
  • Ensuring faculty Section Instructor readiness around online teaching and learning methods
  • Interviewing and approving adjunct faculty/Section Instructors
  • Ensuring evaluation and assessment of adjunct faculty/Section Instructors
  • Holding regular meetings with Section Instructors
  • Observing synchronous classes with each Section Instructor
  • Providing regular, accurate, and timely assistance, feedback, and support to Section Instructors
  • Keeping documentation of Section Instructor work and correspondence
  • Fostering and encouraging Section Instructors to promote a culture of learning
  • Finding a replacement Section Instructor and/or covering teaching in case of emergency
  • Participating in and supporting immersive student clinical preparedness events
  • Teaching material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned course schedule
  • Assuming responsibility for the academic supervision and teaching of students
  • Providing full coverage for all scheduled synchronous sessions/live sessions of online lectures
  • Motivating students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process
  • Maintaining and evaluating records of student’s academic and clinical performance
  • Maintaining all administrative/academic components of the course section
  • Providing regular, accurate, and timely student-specific assistance, feedback, and support
  • Responding to student questions within one to two business days
  • Fostering and encouraging a culture of learning that values respect, professionalism, mutual responsibility, lifelong learning, and ethics
  • Posting a weekly student communication to the course platform’s “announcements/wall”
  • Posting and hosting office hours for students
  • Participating as a team member in curriculum development and maintenance
  • Participating in program, School, and University meetings, committees, activities, and Commencement
  • Participating and assisting in faculty governance
  • Conducting and publishing scholarly research (Tenure-Track)
  • Participating in professional development to stay current and relevant in the discipline (Tenure-Track)
  • Maintaining certifications and licensure (Tenure-Track)
  • Maintaining involvement in the broader academic and professional community (Tenure-Track)
  • Participating in other scholarly activities (Tenure-Track)
  • Grant writing (encouraged, not required for Tenure-Track)
