About The Position

Augsburg University's Department of Business Administration and Economics is seeking an open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) tenure-track faculty member in Economics, starting August 2027. The appointment level will depend on the candidate's qualifications and experience. This role involves teaching undergraduate economics courses, including principles, intermediate theory, electives, and specialized areas. Faculty are expected to provide engaging instruction, mentor students, supervise research, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in departmental and university service. The department values integrating real-world applications, undergraduate research, experiential learning, and community engagement. Faculty are also expected to maintain an active scholarship program that informs teaching, contributes to the discipline, and involves undergraduates in research and inquiry. Participation in departmental governance, university committees, and professional service is also required, contributing to Augsburg's collaborative academic community.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Economics or Applied Economics from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Doctoral candidates will be considered if the doctorate will be completed by August, 2027.
  • Demonstrated abilities in working in an academic community committed to mentoring undergraduates and intentional diversity.
  • Skills and experiences that demonstrate intercultural competence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging undergraduate instruction in economics courses.
  • Maintain regular office hours.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Supervise undergraduate research and capstone projects.
  • Participate in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Contribute to departmental and university service.
  • Integrate real-world applications, undergraduate research, experiential learning, and community engagement into the study of economics.
