About The Position

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a full-time clinical track faculty member in Dermatology and Otology. This role will contribute to the growth, development, and management of the Dermatology and Otology Service. The successful candidate will collaborate with an existing dermatology faculty member to provide clinical responsibilities, teaching, and programmatic development, aiming to expand clinical, educational, and scholarly activities. Approximately 60-65% of the time will be dedicated to clinical duties, including patient management, client service, and teaching students, interns, and residents. While sponsored research is not required, clinical research and collaboration are encouraged. Faculty are expected to advise graduate students, supervise resident research, and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Involvement in professional and community outreach, continuing education, committee service, and curriculum development is also expected. The service is housed in a new suite within the Veterinary Medical Center, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Completed or actively enrolled in an ACVD, ECVD, or AiCVD residency.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible at the time of hire.
  • Maintain licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Ohio.

Nice To Haves

  • Sponsored research is not required for clinical-track faculty, but clinical research, including collaboration with other scientists, is encouraged.
  • Although funded research is not required for clinical track faculty, participation in collaborative research projects and resident and graduate student projects is strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical teaching of professional students, residents and interns in the Dermatology and Otology Service, in conjunction with the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Didactic and laboratory teaching of professional students in the college’s new competency-based veterinary medical curriculum.
  • All aspects of patient care associated with an active Dermatology and Otology practice including patient management, client care, communication with referring veterinarians, consulting with colleagues, medical record keeping, professional development, and participation in public relations activities.
  • Conduct clinical research, publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and other scholarly activities consistent with a clinical tract faculty member.
  • Participation in collaborative research projects and resident and graduate student projects is strongly encouraged.
  • Model and promote a culture of collegiality, professional citizenship, and collaboration in all academic endeavors.
  • Adhere to external, university, college, VMC, and department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
