About The Position

LabCorp is seeking an Onsite Lab Support Clerk - Float to join their team. This position will cover multiple locations in South Bend, Elkhart, and LaPorte, Indiana. The role involves preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, communicating with client office staff, troubleshooting customer and specimen issues, and performing data entry of patient information. The clerk will also be responsible for accurately identifying and labeling specimens, packing and shipping them to testing facilities, and performing special services like spinning, freezing, and splitting specimens as needed. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that may vary based on business needs and supervisor requests. The position is located onsite with a client office and involves performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent
• 1 year or more experience in laboratory or accessioning or production or manufacturing
• Comfortable handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Experience working in a team environment
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Experience with MS Office
• Able to lift up to 40lbs.
• Able to pass a standardized color blind test
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record with reliable transportation
• Be at least 21 years’ old
• This position requires you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Communicate effectively with client office staff
• Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
• Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated
• Do spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client
