About The Position

The Onsite Coordinator works closely with Avantor Lab and Production Services professionals to provide customized laboratory and production support for customers. The role reports to the Site Services Manager and supports inventory management, customer service, purchasing, shipping coordination, and laboratory operations at a customer site in Emeryville, California. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a potential start time of 6:30 a.m. and flexibility around start time; the position is full-time. The hourly pay range is $22–$26, with a separately stated expected annual pre-tax pay range of $49,000–$79,350. Duties include managing and controlling inventory, processing inventory movement, fulfilling customer metric reporting, supporting purchasing and shipping, handling hazardous materials and shipping documentation, and maintaining customer and Avantor systems and procedures. The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds and a strong focus on safety, service, quality, and adherence to protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of experience in material handling, inventory replenishment, or customer service.
• Solid understanding and experience in shipping, inventory, or purchasing.
• Excellent customer service skills and a professional, can-do demeanor.
• High regard for safety, quality, and adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to self-manage, prioritize tasks, and stay motivated and forward-thinking.
• Ability to communicate successfully with customers and internal contacts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory such as consumables, chemicals, and samples, maintain accurate inventory control, and process requests that move inventory on and off site.
• Monitor slow-moving and dead inventory; conduct cycle counts and annual physical inventories; and prepare reports.
• Provide daily customer service and communicate with customers about inventory management.
• Support purchasing activities, including back-order reporting and expediting, direct factory shipments, third-party support, quotes, document control, records maintenance, and resolving open invoices or pricing issues.
• Perform customer service activities including order entry, reporting, maintaining metrics, and tracking cost savings.
• Coordinate shipping of customer material, resolve routine shipping issues, operate basic warehouse equipment, enter shipping information into customer systems, and inspect equipment.
• Handle hazardous materials and prepare required shipping documentation and packaging.
• Interface with customer points of contact, purchasing directors, facility directors, and plant managers.
• Manage consigned, non-consigned, customer-owned, or third-party inventory.
• Use Avantor and customer computer systems to perform job duties, including SAP, Citrix, Intranet, Avantor Inventory Management Systems, ChemSW, and customer-specific systems.
• Meet safety, performance, and quality goals and objectives.
• Build programs to improve service efficiencies.
• Collaborate with Avantor sales force and manufacturer representatives, and document organizational changes.
• Deliver inbound packages to customer contacts at their desks.
• Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
