About The Position

The College of Learning & Development at ACU Dallas is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Full-Time Online Faculty Member in English to serve within our General Education program. This position is responsible for teaching foundational composition, literature, and writing courses in an asynchronous online environment, applying sound educational pedagogy, and mentoring adult learners. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in English with a deep commitment to online instructional excellence, innovative teaching methods, and authentic faith integration in the digital classroom.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree specifically in English (strict requirement; no exceptions).
  • Demonstrated background or formal training in education and educational pedagogy.
  • Proven teaching experience in both traditional (in-person) and online higher education environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • High technological literacy, including comfort with digital feedback tools, asynchronous engagement platforms, and online learning software.
  • Must be a professing Christian who models an active Christian lifestyle and actively participates in their local church and community.
  • Cover Letter detailing your teaching experience, interest in general education instruction, and alignment with ACU’s mission.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume.
  • Statement of Faith & Mission Integration detailing your Christian faith, local church involvement, and how you integrate faith into academic instruction.
  • Statement of Teaching Philosophy highlighting your pedagogical approach to teaching writing and literature in an online environment.
  • Copies of Unofficial Transcripts (Official transcripts required upon hire).

Nice To Haves

  • A terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in English, Composition/Rhetoric, English Education, or a related field.
  • Active affiliation with the Churches of Christ is strongly preferred, in alignment with ACU’s heritage and mission.

Responsibilities

  • Teach full-time general education English and composition courses delivered asynchronously through Canvas LMS.
  • Apply contemporary educational pedagogy, adult learning theories, and evidence-based strategies to design, evaluate, and refine online writing and literature coursework.
  • Provide timely, actionable feedback on student writing, maintain an active virtual presence, host online office hours, and foster student retention and success.
  • Effectively leverage the Canvas LMS and digital learning tools to create interactive, writing-intensive online learning environments.
  • Articulate and thoughtfully integrate a Christian worldview into general education coursework, encouraging critical thinking, ethics, and personal growth.
  • Participate in General Education assessment, faculty meetings, committee work, and university initiatives.
