About The Position

Frederick Health is seeking an Oncology Scheduler to work as needed. This role involves answering scheduling-related calls for Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Breast Surgery, Chest Surgery, and IVOP. The scheduler will manage multiple phone lines, schedule physician consults and follow-up appointments using Meditech Expanse and/or Aria EMR, and pre-register patients. They will also gather pertinent medical records, ensure pre-visit paperwork is sent to patients, and direct other calls to the appropriate staff. Administrative duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least two years prior experience in a healthcare office setting.
  • Intermediate proficiency and accuracy in the use of software programs such as MS Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; professional telephone communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple phone lines.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Ability to work professionally with a diverse population base.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to create, compose and edit written materials.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational training preferred.
  • Oncology office experience preferred.
  • Experience with electronic heath records, such as NextGen and Aria, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer scheduling related calls for Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Breast Surgery, Chest Surgery, and IVOP.
  • Answer multiple line telephones in a timely, professional manner.
  • Schedule physician consult and follow-up appointments according to the practice template within Meditech Expanse and/or Aria EMR.
  • Gather appropriate patient information to pre-register the patient within these EMRs.
  • Gather all pertinent medical records for new and follow up visits.
  • Ensure pre-visit paperwork is sent to the patient for completion.
  • Direct other calls to appropriate staff as needed.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
