Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is seeking an Oncology Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to serve as a critical, real-time medication expert. This role involves providing immediate, life-saving pharmacotherapeutic interventions for acutely ill and critically injured patients. The specialist will optimize drug therapy, mitigate medication risks, and lead medication management during high-stakes emergencies, directly impacting patient outcomes. Responsibilities include providing expert pharmacotherapeutic consultation and direct patient care during resuscitations, trauma activations, stroke alerts, and other medical emergencies, making rapid, evidence-based recommendations on drug selection, dosing, administration, and monitoring. The role also involves managing complex toxicology cases, leading medication preparation in critical situations, and providing urgent drug information to physicians and nurses. Additionally, the specialist will contribute to quality improvement initiatives, precept pharmacy residents and students, and provide education to emergency department staff. Success in this role requires specialized training in emergency medicine pharmacy, clinical acumen, and composure to manage complex pharmacotherapy in high-stress environments, collaborating with physicians and nurses as the definitive medication expert.
