On-Call Caregiver Home Care Aide - Flexible Schedule
About The Position
Assisting Hands Home Care in Cary, North Carolina is seeking dependable, flexible on-call caregivers and home care aides to cover open shifts and last-minute staffing needs. Caregivers remain at home during scheduled on-call hours unless contacted to cover a shift. Availability is Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM and/or Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Shifts depend on client needs and scheduling requirements, and being on call does not guarantee a call-in every day. Candidates must be reachable during their scheduled on-call hours and able to report to an assigned shift within the required timeframe. The position pays for scheduled on-call availability, even when the caregiver is not called in. Compensation is $7.25–$16.00 per hour. Care is provided in clients’ homes and is tailored to each individual’s care plan. Assisting Hands Home Care provides personalized support intended to help clients remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home, with care grounded in dignity and respect.
Requirements
- Previous caregiving experience.
- Dependability and flexibility to work changing assignments.
- Willingness to work with a variety of clients with different personalities, routines, and care needs.
- Comfort working in homes with pets, including dogs and cats.
- Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate with the office.
- Reliable transportation to assigned client locations.
- Ability to meet applicable hiring, background screening, and training requirements.
- Ability to remain reachable during scheduled on-call hours and report to an assigned shift within the required timeframe.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, showering, and dressing, as specified in their care plans.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Prepare meals and assist with eating as appropriate.
- Provide medication reminders according to the care plan.
- Perform light housekeeping related to the client’s needs.
- Support safe mobility and walking within training and assigned duties.
- Communicate client updates, concerns, and changes in condition to the office.
- Remain reachable during scheduled on-call hours and report to an assigned shift when required.
