About The Position
Take 5 Oil Change is seeking a career-minded Assistant Shop Manager to help lead a fast-paced team. The role supports the Shop Manager with daily operations, team development, and delivering a fast, friendly customer experience. The Assistant Shop Manager serves as Manager on Duty when needed, helping keep the team focused and the shop safe, efficient, and running smoothly. Paid, hands-on training is provided to teach the technical skills and service standards required; automotive experience is valued but not required. This is an active, hands-on position in an automotive service environment. Team members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; safely maneuver in and out of a shallow, 3-foot-deep pit to position themselves under vehicles; perform standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, holding, grasping, pulling, and turning for extended periods; and work in hot or cold weather when necessary.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of customer service experience in a fast-paced service environment, delivering consistent and exceptional customer service.
- At least 6 months of experience leading, coaching, or mentoring others in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to following and maintaining facility and safety control policies and practices.
- Strong communication skills and comfort providing direction, coaching, and feedback to team members.
- Initiative, accountability, and follow-through on responsibilities.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and solutions-focused during busy periods.
- Ability to meet applicable age and certification requirements, including Inspector Certification when required.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely maneuver in and out of a shallow 3-foot-deep pit.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, hold, grasp, pull, and turn for extended periods.
- Ability to work in hot or cold weather conditions when necessary.

- Automotive experience is valued but not required.
Responsibilities
- Complete Certified Technician training.
- Serve as Manager on Duty when needed by coordinating workflow and helping the team deliver safe, efficient, high-quality service.
- Model fast, friendly customer service, respond to customer needs, and resolve concerns professionally.
- Ensure services are completed accurately and consistently while reinforcing company procedures, safety requirements, and service standards.
- Support shop performance by identifying opportunities for improvement and taking on additional leadership responsibilities when the Shop Manager is unavailable.
- Train new team members, provide real-time coaching and feedback, reinforce expectations, and recognize strong performance.
- Perform all Certified Technician and Lead Technician responsibilities.
- Complete opening and closing procedures.
- Assist with daily inventory counts and adjustments.
- Support shop communication, reporting, and operational follow-up.
