About The Position

Kean Miller is seeking a partnership-track attorney to join its Offshore Energy and Marine Litigation practice in the New Orleans office. The attorney will handle a varied civil litigation caseload, including maritime disputes, personal injury claims, property damage, and environmental issues. The role involves advising clients on complex maritime and energy-related matters, including operations, shipping regulations, marine insurance, and marine environmental regulations, and representing clients in legal proceedings. The position requires direct client interaction and the ability to cultivate and develop client and referral relationships. Candidates must be in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2–3 years of litigation experience.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Strong research, writing, communication, and advocacy skills.
• Ability and desire to interact directly with clients and cultivate and further develop client and referral relationships.
• A track record of high achievement.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload from inception through resolution.
• Must be in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in offshore and maritime matters is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a caseload from beginning to end.
• Regularly handle court appearances and depositions.
• Lead client communications and provide meaningful updates.
• Handle civil litigation cases involving maritime disputes, personal injury claims, property damage, and environmental issues.
• Advise clients on complex maritime and energy-related legal matters, including operations, shipping regulations, marine insurance issues, and marine environmental regulations.
• Represent clients in hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, advocating for their interests in maritime and civil litigation matters.
