Litigation Attorney
About The Position
RumbergerKirk is seeking a motivated litigation associate to join its Birmingham, Alabama office. The role is suited to an attorney with 2–5 years of civil litigation defense experience who enjoys handling meaningful, complex matters, interacting directly with clients, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team. The attorney will manage cases from inception through trial and work directly with clients and experienced attorneys on litigation strategy and case development. The firm emphasizes mentorship, professional development, and support for attorneys building fulfilling, long-term careers. The attorney will work alongside experienced trial attorneys who provide guidance and share their knowledge in a collaborative environment where contributions and professional growth are valued. Requirements
- 2–5 years of civil litigation experience.
- Demonstrated case management experience and the ability to take on increasing responsibility.
- Experience with depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Alabama.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in general liability, casualty, premises liability, product liability, or complex litigation is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Handle cases from inception through trial.
- Take and defend depositions, attend hearings and mediations, and argue motions.
- Interview witnesses and experts and negotiate with opposing counsel.
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, memoranda, settlement agreements, and trial-related documents.
- Work directly with clients and collaborate with experienced attorneys on litigation strategy and case development.
