About The Position

Warner Creek Correctional Facility is seeking an experienced Office Specialist 2 to provide comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the Business Office, Food Services, Superintendent’s Office, and Mailroom within the Oregon Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include preparing and distributing correspondence and reports; managing calendars, meetings, and travel; maintaining records and filing systems; processing purchase orders and tracking financial transactions; coordinating meetings and events; providing reception and customer service; supporting video/teleconferencing; and ensuring accurate, timely communication across departments. This position also supports records retention compliance, maintains office supplies and controlled inventories, follows safety and security procedures, and provides backup coverage for mailroom and other administrative functions. This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Requirements

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, performing word processing, or other document generation
  • An associate degree in any field
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Skilled in applying specific, well-defined rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to work performed
  • Ability to review technical forms or information for compliance with established criteria
  • Skill in organizing work efficiently and exercising independent judgment in making appropriate decisions concerning work methods
  • Skill in performing a variety of clerical functions at a technical or secretarial support level in an office
  • Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility
  • Must complete an I-9 and confirm authorization to work in the United States within three days of hire
