About The Position

The Coordinator for the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) assists with the administration, planning, development, and evaluation of departmental programs and services that support undergraduate research initiatives. The incumbent exercises independent judgment in the coordination of programs, development of operational procedures, and implementation of outreach strategies. This position contributes to policy recommendations and ensures alignment with institutional goals to enhance student success and engagement in undergraduate research.

Requirements

  • Experience in higher education program administration, student engagement, or undergraduate research initiatives.
  • Experience with event planning, publications, or academic programming.
  • Strong communication, marketing, and digital content management experience.
  • Experience supervising student employees or interns.
  • Knowledge of higher education program development and student success initiatives.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proficiency in digital communication platforms, web content management, and marketing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of undergraduate research programs, initiatives, and services.
  • Develops and administers strategic outreach and recruitment initiatives to increase student participation in OUR programming.
  • Coordinates, plans, and executes major departmental events.
  • Oversees the development and dissemination of communications and marketing strategies, including web content, social media, digital media, and print publications.
  • Collaborates with academic units, advising offices, Student Success, and the Hicks Honors College to promote undergraduate research opportunities and ensure coordinated communication efforts.
  • Maintains responsibility for the accuracy, accessibility, and strategic content management of the OUR website and related platforms.
  • Serves in a leadership role in the production and publication of PANDION: The Osprey Journal of Research and Ideas, including editorial coordination and process oversight.
  • Manages operational services, including poster printing, budget tracking (Auxiliary funds), and customer service for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Prepares reports and assessments, to evaluate program effectiveness and inform decision-making.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and provides direct supervision to student interns; assigns work, monitors performance, and ensures alignment with departmental goals.
  • Coordinates and facilitates student participation in institutional and statewide research events.
  • Exercises discretion in program operations, problem-solving, and implementation of initiatives.
  • Provides recommendations on policies, procedures, and program improvements to leadership.
