About The Position

The AP Office Coordinator provides secretarial support to Pathologists and other staff members in the Anatomic Pathology department. This role works independently under general supervision and is responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support services such as receiving visitors, scheduling meetings, conferences, and maintaining the pathologist’s calendar. The coordinator will also type correspondence, prepare spreadsheets and presentations, and conduct special projects as assigned. Under general supervision and following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, the AP Office Coordinator is responsible for the receipt, correlation, and delivery of specimens and reports. This role adheres to biological and safety policies, has knowledge of medical transcription, performs troubleshooting and quality assurance monitoring, maintains surgical pathology files and records, follows detailed procedures, and performs all computer functions. The position is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Two years of progressive clerical or secretarial experience.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office, Word and Excel software.

Nice To Haves

  • Education beyond high school may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Knowledge of medical transcription.
