About The Position

Responsible for providing occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Implements established plans of care, administers therapeutic activities and interventions, observes and reports patient response to treatment, and assists patients in improving or maintaining functional abilities and independence within the limits of their capabilities.

Requirements

  • Must have strong written and verbal skills.
  • Moderate computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, therapeutic activities, anatomy, physiology, and patient care techniques.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy equipment operation, safe use, basic maintenance, and infection-control practices.
  • Physically able to meet following physical demands for lifting, vision, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Awareness of budget restraints, and assistance with conserving costs.
  • Current Kansas licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant; current BLS certification as required by GRMC.
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and always maintains confidentiality.
  • Attends annual in-services completes annual education in a timely manner.
  • Represents GRMC in a positive, professional manner on the job, electronically and in the community.
  • Complies with all hospital policies regarding ethical business practices; communicates the mission statement & core values of GRMC both on and off the job.

  • Previous Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides occupational therapy treatment in accordance with the plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist and within the scope of practice of an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Observes and documents patient response to treatment and reports changes in condition or treatment effectiveness to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly with the supervising Occupational Therapist, physicians, staff, administrative team, patients, families, and customers.
  • Provides and coordinates assigned patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
  • Maintains accurate and timely patient records and documentation related to occupational therapy services.
  • Ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  • Collaborates with the supervising Occupational Therapist and other departments, as appropriate, to support patient care and performance improvement activities.
  • Meets current documentation standards, departmental procedures, and hospital policies.
  • Participates in staff education, performance improvement activities, in-services, and other educational programs as assigned.
  • Participates in infection control, departmental equipment training, and organizational safety programs.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
