About The Position
Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join its acute care team in a PRN, as-needed role. The position requires at least two weekend days per month and work on one major and one minor holiday. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients, documents evaluations and treatment progress, completes discharge documentation, communicates with patients and care teams, provides patient education, and performs re-evaluations and adjusts treatment plans as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Virginia license in Occupational Therapy upon start.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association upon start.

- One year of Occupational Therapist experience.
Responsibilities
- Document evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy.
- Complete daily progress notes reflecting patients' responses to treatment, actual performance, status in relation to the treatment plan, discharge needs, and treatment summaries when needed.
- Complete discharge notes summarizing the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, follow-up recommendations, and patient and/or family education.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.
- Provide educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' understanding and motivation.
- Demonstrate essential competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols.
- Perform re-evaluations according to department guidelines and adjust treatment plans as needed.
