Occupational Therapist (OT) Acute Care
About The Position
Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join its Acute Care team. This is a full-time, day-shift position with a Monday-Friday schedule and some weekend and holiday coverage. The Occupational Therapist evaluates patients and develops appropriate treatment plans based on diagnosis, age group, and physical and emotional status. The role uses treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols to provide care, conducts re-evaluations, and adjusts treatment plans as needed. The therapist also completes evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, administrative tasks, and other responsibilities supporting the operating unit, while communicating with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Virginia Occupational Therapist license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

- Occupational Therapist experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to department policies concerning the timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.
- Complete administrative tasks and other responsibilities supporting the operating unit.
- Demonstrate essential skill competencies in treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols.
- Perform re-evaluations according to department guidelines and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Select evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to patients’ diagnoses, age groups, and physical and emotional status.
- Formulate appropriate treatment plans.
