About The Position

Lifemark is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist to join their Carlingwood Clinic team. This role focuses on enhancing the health and well-being of Canadians, particularly those recovering from motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, or pursuing physical, cognitive, and mental wellness goals through the PCVRS program. The Occupational Therapist will objectively assess a person's ability to perform daily and work-related tasks, identify physical/cognitive limitations, guide rehabilitation, and create safe, trauma-informed environments to support participation in meaningful work, school, and social roles. The clinic is located in Ottawa's west end and emphasizes diversity and inclusion. New graduates and Internationally Educated OTs are welcome.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
  • Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required.
  • In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check.
  • In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months).
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
  • Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
  • Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Bilingualism - French and English are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive individual and program-based treatments and assessments in clinic, virtual and community settings for clients recovering from motor vehicle accidents workplace injuries, or pursuing physical, cognitive and mental wellness goals through the PCVRS (Partners Canadian Veterans Rehab Services) program.
  • Evaluate the worker's physical, cognitive, and psychological functions, as well as job demands and workplace environment.
  • Create tailored, graded return-to-work plans with specific, measurable goals (that gradually increase activity and build tolerance).
  • Design and implement targeted concussion management and return to function plans.
  • Perform clinical evaluations, provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits.
  • Identify, recommend and initiate procurement for appropriate equipment needs.
  • Train clients in mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress.
  • Provide education to the client and employer about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan.
  • Work with employers to identify suitable modified duties, adapt the work environment, and monitor progress.
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
  • Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment.
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment.
