The Occupational Therapist works in the fast-paced, team-oriented acute care department at Cox South Hospital’s main campus, providing care across areas such as the ICU and medical-surgical floors. The department offers diverse clinical experience, a mentorship program for new graduates and therapists new to acute care, and a collaborative team environment. The Occupational Therapist helps patients minimize disability and develop the skills and attitudes needed for greater independent functioning. Patients may be referred for services for a variety of orthopedic and neurologic diagnoses. The therapist plans and implements prevention, habilitation, and rehabilitation services, including counseling and orientation, to improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury.
