About The Position

The Occupational Therapist will carry out an individualized program of occupational therapy including assessment, treatment, implementation, education, discharge planning and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals. The Occupational Therapist will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff. This role supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry. The therapist provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and consults with other specialists. They review patients’ functional needs and adjust care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The therapist designs and implements a plan of care for patients based on a thorough assessment of potential development and incorporates participation by significant others whenever it seems appropriate. Therapy practice is conducted within defined standards of care. The role directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals and communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes. The therapist maintains compliance with all relevant Federal, State regulations and Organizational policies, and follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Documentation of evaluations, treatment goals, and plans is required, along with regular updates and maintenance of prescriptions and signatures. Professional growth and development are enhanced through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops, and by keeping up to date on professional literature. The role provides direction and leadership to staff and acts as a resource to promote occupational therapy in the community. For the outpatient setting, the therapist schedules patients and monitors referral work queues in the EHR, and monitors and analyzes essential departmental data elements through creation and running of reports in the EHR. Other duties as consistent with this role may be assigned.

Requirements

Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) accredited Occupational Therapy program required.
Current license from the NH state Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners required.
NBCOT certification required.
CPR/BLS certification required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
Knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services.
Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations.
Ability to use a computer and proficiency in EHR documentation.
