About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Occupational Safety & Health Nurse to support their SOS Contract in Pittsburgh, PA. In a small team environment, the nurse will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Occupational Health Unit (OHU). This includes occupational and non-occupational patient evaluation and care, performing occupational health tests, and evaluating test results. The role ensures testing performance complies with applicable laws and regulations, and that medical testing results are entered into the medical database and provided to employees. The nurse will assist in assessing programs for regulatory compliance and best medical practices, prepare reports, and stay updated on occupational health issues and regulations. Under physician direction, the nurse will provide phlebotomy services, administer immunizations and medications, and perform various tests such as vision, pulmonary function, EKG, UA, and audiograms. The role involves determining employees needing entry into health programs, documenting employee visits and treatments, and managing workers' compensation cases. The nurse will also ensure appropriate information is provided to employers regarding medical restrictions while maintaining HIPAA compliance, refer employees for ergonomic evaluations, participate in emergency response drills, and conduct employee training, including CPR/AED/FA. Consultations, wellness education, site tours, and referrals will also be provided as requested by DOE.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Minimum of 5-10 years as a Registered Nurse in a medical facility.
  • Must have and maintain all credentialing and state licensure requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing (BSN) with current WV or PA state RN licensure required.
  • BLS certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Occupational Health experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Workers' Compensation program case management preferred.
  • Dual licensure in WV and PA a plus.
  • ACLS and AHA BLS instructor a plus.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S) desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Occupational Health Unit (OHU).
  • Provide occupational and non-occupational patient evaluation and care.
  • Perform screening occupational health tests and evaluate test results.
  • Ensure testing performance is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure medical testing results are entered into the medical database and provide hard copy results to employees.
  • Assist in the assessment of programs in terms of regulatory compliance and best medical practices.
  • Prepare reports as requested and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Keep abreast of current developments in occupational health issues and associated laws and regulations.
  • Under physician direction, provide phlebotomy services, administer immunizations and over the counter medications.
  • Perform testing such as vision testing, pulmonary function (PFT/spirometry), EKG, UA by dipstick and audiograms when needed for clearances.
  • Determine employees needing entry into various health programs (hearing, respirator, medical surveillance, etc.).
  • Document employee visits, injuries, illnesses and treatment administered by first aid and/or medical referral necessary in the medical record and database.
  • Ensure that testing is performed correctly, and results appropriately documented.
  • Report injuries as required by the company, State and Federal regulations.
  • Manage workers’ compensation cases and maintain workers’ compensation case files.
  • Participate in, conduct and document periodic health inspections.
  • Ensure that appropriate information is provided to the employer/supervisor about medical restrictions without violating employee privacy/Health Information Portability and Privacy Act (HIPPA) requirements.
  • Refer employees for ergonomic evaluations.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and ensure the quality of program response.
  • Participate in employee training; CPR/AED/FA training as appropriate.
  • Provide consultations, wellness education, site tours and referrals.
  • Perform any milestones as requested by DOE.
