About The Position

Build a career in occupational health and safety, right on the shop floor! At Air Wise, we design and manufacture custom air handling units used across North America. As we grow, we’re strengthening our occupational health and safety team. We’re looking for someone who wants to build real, hands-on experience in this space. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role where you’ll partner with production teams to make work safer every day.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Health & Safety or a related field
  • 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting (co-op counts)
  • A strong interest in occupational health and exposure risks
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and workplace hazards (dust, fumes, chemicals, noise)
  • Confidence working on the shop floor and engaging with employees
  • Strong organization and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with air sampling, noise monitoring, or ventilation systems
  • Exposure to welding, painting, or chemical processes
  • Working toward a CRSP or CRST designation

Responsibilities

  • Identify and help control health hazards such as welding fumes and metal particulates, designated substances in the workplace, industrial paints and solvents, sheet metal and fabrication hazards, and compressed gases.
  • Work in higher-risk environments involving overhead cranes and material handling equipment, forklifts and straddle carriers, racking systems, and testing areas with live electricity and gas.
  • Partner with production teams to make work safer every day.
  • Walk the floor to identify exposure risks and unsafe conditions.
  • Support air monitoring or noise assessments.
  • Check ventilation systems.
  • Ensure chemicals are properly labeled and stored.
  • Talk with employees about safe work practices.
  • Coordinate all health and safety training, including with external providers.
  • Track safety actions and follow up to ensure they’re completed.
