About The Position

Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Occupational Health Nurse to support Kadiak and our Department of State customer in Washington, DC, and Department of State Annex site in Arlington, VA. This position is covered under the Service Contract Act. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with no weekends. The nurse will work at both the Washington, DC and Arlington, VA locations. The Occupational Health Nurse will provide expert immunization services and health consultations to federal employees and their eligible family members who are preparing for overseas assignments and international travel. This role involves assessing travel health risks, administering vaccinations, and providing education on preventive measures for clients traveling to global destinations.

Requirements

Unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia and Washington, DC. Both licenses are required.
Graduation from a National League of Nursing (NLN) accredited School of Nursing.
Proficient in IM and SQ injections.
Current BLS/AED recognized by the American Heart Association.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the clinical nursing duties (e.g., CPR performance, responding immediately to an emergency, carrying a thirty (30) pound Emergency Go-Bag, etc.) without accommodation as well as free from any communicable disease(s).
Must be willing to work at both the Washington, DC and Arlington, VA locations.
Applicant must be a US Citizen.
Applicants must be eligible for a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) background investigation.

Nice To Haves

Experience providing international travel immunizations, which should be reflected in your resume.
Strong knowledge of international travel health requirements and immunization protocols.
High attention to detail.
Experience performing audiometric testing is a plus.
Occupational Health experience a plus.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ travel health needs.
Administer and manage travel-related vaccinations and medications for adults and children.
Provide expert guidance on health precautions and preventive measures for international travel.
Educate patients on potential health risks and safe travel practices.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and vaccination documentation.
Stay current with international health regulations and vaccination requirements.
Work independently with guidance from physicians and using standing orders to assess patient overseas travel needs.
Use best practice guidelines to administer recommended vaccines, maintain medical records, and assist patients in complying with prescribed medical regimens.
Plan and provide comprehensive nursing care in accordance with professional nursing standards, using recommendations from CDC, WHO, ACIP, and Travax to develop care plans.
Provide direction for prescribed medications and protection from environmental challenges.
Assist/consult with overseas medical personnel on past immunization status and various healthcare issues.
Participate in all required training and competency assessments according to staffing contract, policies, and SOPs to maintain ability to work in the assigned clinic.
Perform components of physical exams which may include, but are not limited to, vital signs, height and weight, audiometry, vision testing, ECG, spirometry, phlebotomy, and TB skin testing.
Document all clinical data on required forms.
Assess employees who may develop emergent conditions while on the job. The nurse provides care following medical guidelines, may seek physician guidance, take preplanned emergency measures, or request 911 assistance.
