About The Position

The Observatory Ambassador is a dynamic, interactive role within the Observatory with a specific focus on the guest experience and how the guest relates to the Observatory offerings. This position plays an integral role in providing the NYC area as well as national and international guests with unique, memorable experiences.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of one year’s experience hosting in a guest-facing role (e.g., entertainment, hospitality)
Sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks including constant reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time
Ability to always demonstrate a high level of professionalism and customer service
Ability to engage guests and work in a busy, highly interactive environment
Ability to memorize historical and technical information
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift and transport items weighing 10-20 pounds (occasionally 30)

Nice To Haves

Multi-lingual and sign language capabilities preferred

Responsibilities

Greeting guests as they enter assigned areas
Ensure the safety of our guests while on tour or in assigned areas
Providing a high level of customer service by engaging guests, answering questions, resolving issues, and providing service to ensure a great experience
Retaining learned knowledge and subsequently share it with guests by providing operational answers (e.g., observatory layout, experience locations) to all inquiries
Performing and presenting information in a concise, audible manner to guests—speaking loudly, clearly, and having a commanding presence
Performing other duties as necessary or as required by management
