About The Position

The OBGYN Physician provides backup call coverage for a laborist and patients currently in the practice at an inpatient facility in New Braunfels, Texas. The role is supplemental, with 24-hour call coverage from 7 a.m. to 7 a.m.; some shifts may begin at 5:30 p.m. The physician serves as second call/backup and must respond within 30 minutes, with availability for in-person evaluation when needed. Coverage dates are November 20–30, December 11–14, and December 21–28, 2026, and January 8–11 and January 25–February 1, 2027.

The physician manages low- and high-risk pregnancies, including deliveries and C-sections, performs routine obstetric and gynecologic procedures, and coordinates with hospital staff to ensure continuity of care. The facility uses Cerner and has a Level III trauma designation. Hospital privileges are required; temporary privileges are not available. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

Requirements

• Board certification (BC).
• Texas license.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• Fellowship required.
• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges are not available.
• Required capabilities include managing low- and high-risk pregnancies; interpreting FHR monitoring (NST/CST/FSE); performing and interpreting obstetric ultrasounds; routine delivery; and office gynecology.
