About The Position

Ascension St. Vincent Carmel is seeking a Board Certified OBGYN MD/DO with 4 years of experience for their new OB Hospitalist program. This role involves managing labor up to delivery, providing urgent postpartum care, offering back-up and consultation for the midwifery service, and caring for unassigned patients. The OB Hospitalist will also triage patients presenting to the unit and assist in cesarean deliveries when requested. The facility is a Level III maternity center with a Level III NICU, supported by 24-hour dedicated OB anesthesia. The role offers a collaborative culture, working closely with a nursing team and OB groups, and involves leading emergency GYN surgical interventions for high-acuity cases. The position is a W-2 employed role within a national network, offering flexibility and physician-led decision-making.

Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • 4 years experience
  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Physicians who are comfortable performing emergency GYN surgeries independently.
  • Physicians who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments with minimal downtime.
  • Physicians who are able and willing to float between Carmel, Fishers, Anderson, and Kokomo.

Responsibilities

  • Management of labor up to and including delivery, as requested by generalist physicians
  • Urgent postpartum care as requested by the assigned physician
  • Providing back-up and consultation for midwifery service
  • Caring for all unassigned patients who present to the OB Unit or Emergency Room
  • Triage of all patients who present to the unit unless directly admitted
  • When requested, assist in cesarean deliveries
  • Communicate with Maternal Fetal Medicine on consults & actions when requested
  • Lead emergency GYN surgical interventions, managing high-acuity cases including ectopics and ovarian torsions with full specialty support.
  • Drive unit efficiency by managing all triage arrivals and ER consults, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
