About The Position

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is seeking a 1-year advanced Fellow for training in Obesity Medicine. This is a unique opportunity within the only fully integrated and multidisciplinary academic weight management center in New Hampshire. The program focuses on comprehensive evaluation and management of obesity as a chronic disease, emphasizing health. The Fellow will work with a dedicated team of obesity-trained physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, registered dieticians, certified health coaches, and a health psychologist. This fellowship is part of the Center for Digestive Health, a collaboration between Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Obesity Medicine, and Digestive Surgery. Upon completion, the Fellow will have gained competency in all aspects of obesity evaluation and medical management. The role also involves active participation in ongoing obesity research, including clinical trials, outcomes research, prospective studies, and quality improvement. The Fellow will receive an academic appointment as a member of the faculty of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree.
  • All requirements for candidate’s MD/DO degree must be completed prior to start date.
  • Completion of a 3-year residency in internal medicine, Family Medicine, Preventative Medicine, or Geriatrics (with consideration of other residencies) by June 30, 2027.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Gain competency in all aspects of the evaluation and medical management of patients with obesity.
  • Become deeply involved in ongoing obesity research projects.
  • Become proficient in engaging in clinical trials, outcomes research, prospective studies, and quality improvement.
