Plumas District Hospital•Quincy, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

The Obstetric Registered Nurse provides maternal and newborn care across three settings in Plumas District Hospital’s integrated “The Plumas Model”: a midwifery-led freestanding Birth Center, a Rural Health Clinic, and hospital-based Standby Perinatal Services. The model connects outpatient prenatal and postpartum care, physiologic birth support, and emergency obstetric and neonatal response. The Standby Perinatal Unit, enabled by California Senate Bill 669 through a 10-year pilot program, provides emergency support for patients transferred from the Birth Center or presenting to the Emergency Department. This autonomous role requires participation in program management, quality and process improvement, and development of the new model of care. The nurse provides clinic case management and education; serves as a second birth attendant alongside the midwife; and responds to urgent or emergent perinatal needs through assessment, monitoring, stabilization, collaboration, and coordination of transfer when indicated. The position works in Quincy and Greenville and may support a mobile clinic. The role includes scheduled on-call coverage as a Birth Center attendant and on-call coverage for emergent Standby Perinatal triage. The nurse also provides perinatal and lactation education, coordinates care and screening programs, contributes to quality and safety initiatives, and supports training and mentorship. Compensation is listed as $4,041.60–$5,762.40 per pay period ($105,081.60–$149,821.24 annually), with starting pay determined by a clinical pay scale recognizing up to 30 years of relevant experience. Eligible employees may also receive shift differentials and holiday pay.
