Plumas District Hospital•Quincy, CA
•$105,082 - $149,821•Onsite

About The Position

The Obstetric Registered Nurse provides maternal and newborn care across Plumas District Hospital’s “Plumas Model,” an integrated rural maternity-care approach connecting a midwifery-led freestanding Birth Center, a hospital-based Standby Perinatal Unit, and a Rural Health Clinic for prenatal and postpartum services. Enabled by California Senate Bill 669 through a 10-year pilot program, the Standby Perinatal Unit provides emergency obstetric and neonatal support for patients transferred from the Birth Center or arriving at the Emergency Department. The role supports continuity of care across outpatient, intrapartum, and hospital-based perinatal services and is autonomous, with participation in program management, quality improvement, and development of the new care model. In the Rural Health Clinic, the nurse provides case management, assessments, screening, education, follow-up, referrals, and care coordination for prenatal and postpartum patients. At the Birth Center, the nurse provides perinatal education and serves as a second birth attendant in a midwifery-led model that supports physiologic birth with minimal intervention. The nurse assists with labor and delivery, assesses maternal and newborn well-being, supports infant feeding and bonding, and recognizes when consultation or transfer is needed. For Standby Perinatal Services, the nurse responds to activation and provides assessment, monitoring, stabilization, and coordination for urgent or emergent obstetric needs, working with obstetric and hospital teams and arranging transfer to a higher level of care when indicated. The position works across the Birth Center, Rural Health Clinic, and hospital Standby Perinatal Services, with locations in Quincy and Greenville and support for a mobile clinic. It is full-time and benefited. The listed base pay is $4,041.60–$5,762.40 per pay period, or $105,081.60–$149,821.24 annually. Starting pay is determined by clinical pay scales with 13 steps recognizing up to 30 years of relevant experience. Eligible employees may receive shift differential and holiday pay.
