About The Position

The Environmental Intern will support the Environmental Coordinator in maintaining and improving the Nucor Warehouse Systems Environmental Program. The role assists with environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and plant-wide environmental projects, while providing hands-on experience with environmental regulations and industrial best practices. The intern will work closely with the Environmental Coordinator and Nucor team members to support continuous improvement, promote environmentally responsible practices, and help ensure compliance with applicable environmental requirements. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor. Candidates must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
Must work onsite in Vernon, CA for the internship duration.
Must successfully meet the company’s pre-employment drug screening requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist with environmental inspections, audits, training, recordkeeping, and permit documentation.
Help monitor compliance with air, water, and waste regulations.
Support sustainability initiatives and environmental improvement projects.
Organize environmental data and maintain accurate records.
Participate in community outreach and environmental awareness activities.
Support continuous improvement and promote environmentally responsible practices.
