NWS Environmental Intern - Summer 2027
About The Position
The Environmental Intern will support the Environmental Coordinator in maintaining and improving the Nucor Warehouse Systems Environmental Program. The role provides hands-on experience with environmental regulations and industrial best practices while assisting with environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and plant-wide environmental projects. The intern will work closely with the Environmental Coordinator and Nucor team members to promote continuous improvement, environmentally responsible practices, and compliance with applicable environmental requirements. Safety is a priority, and the intern must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
- Must work onsite in Vernon, California, for the internship duration.
- Must successfully meet the company's pre-employment drug screening requirements.
- Must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities
- Assist with environmental inspections, audits, training, recordkeeping, and permit documentation.
- Help monitor compliance with air, water, and waste regulations.
- Support sustainability initiatives and environmental improvement projects.
- Organize environmental data and maintain accurate records.
- Participate in community outreach and environmental awareness activities.
- Support continuous improvement and promote environmentally responsible practices.
- Uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
