About The Position

The Nutrition Services Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting Augusta Health’s mission and advancing departmental goals through measurable performance indicators and service excellence. This position contributes to a collaborative, patient-centered environment and helps drive outcomes aligned with organizational priorities. The Nutrition Services Supervisor for Retail Services is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Retail Cafeteria by leading staff, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role provides day-to-day supervision of team members, coordinates work assignments, monitors productivity, and supports management in maintaining efficient food service operations. The Supervisor ensures accurate recordkeeping and cash handling, promotes a safe work environment, and helps develop a high-performing team while maintaining compliance with all company, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of food service or managerial experience
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and meet Virginia state employment requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Nutrition Services staff to ensure food service procedures, quality standards, and departmental expectations are consistently met.
  • Coordinate daily operations by assigning work, organizing staffing, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring deadlines are achieved.
  • Train, coach, and develop new and existing team members on job responsibilities, equipment operation, food safety, and departmental procedures.
  • Monitor employee performance, productivity, attendance, and adherence to company policies, including dress code and uniform standards.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, Health Department, Infection Control, food safety, sanitation, and all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate departmental records, including temperature logs, taste panels, attendance, and other required documentation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, including proper use, storage, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Ensure all food service equipment is operated safely and correctly and that team members are properly trained in its use.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety meetings, training, hazard assessments, and promptly reporting accidents or incidents.
  • Deliver and foster exceptional customer service for patients, residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Ensure the cafeteria and service areas are prepared and opened on time to provide efficient, high-quality service.
  • Assist with cash handling responsibilities, including POS operations, safeguarding funds, balancing, and preparing deposits.
  • Exercise sound judgment when responding to operational challenges, staffing needs, and customer concerns while supporting departmental goals.
  • Maintain flexibility to meet departmental staffing and operational needs, including adjusting work schedules when necessary.
  • Attend supervisor meetings, required in-service education, and mandatory training programs.
  • Perform daily operational duties while supporting management with departmental initiatives and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
