About The Position

The Nutrition Services Senior is part of Corewell Health’s Nutrition Services team at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids. This Senior Technician helps ensure efficient, high-quality meal service for patients, team members, and visitors. The role leads and supports staff training, helps maintain department standards, addresses service challenges, and assists with oversight of daily operations when needed. Clear communication, collaboration, and leadership are important to promoting teamwork and operational efficiency.

This is a full-time evening position, scheduled from 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with variable workdays and every other weekend. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of relevant experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare setting or related field.
• CRT-Accredited Food Protection Manager (CFP) certification through the ANSI National Accreditation Board within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in hospitality or nutrition.
• At least 6 months of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, communicate, and uphold organizational procedures and policies, ensuring staff are trained and compliant with established standards.
• Oversee and deliver comprehensive training for new Nutrition Services hires in diet standards, food safety protocols, patient-focused service, and department workflows.
• Train staff in Call Center, Trayline, Tray Delivery, Dish Room, and Nourishments workflows.
• Be prepared to assist as department lead, providing oversight and support for smooth daily operations.
• Answer inquiries from patients, team members, nursing staff, and visitors.
• Reallocate team members during staffing shortages.
• Address team members professionally and appropriately in a high-volume food service environment.
• Communicate clearly and collaborate with staff, peers, and leadership to promote transparency, teamwork, and operational efficiency.
• Share information, support problem-solving, and contribute to a culture of trust, respect, and continuous improvement.
