About The Position

The Nutrition Service Clerk helps prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients and meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. The role supports patient nutrition services by coordinating menus and diet orders, recording nutrition-related information, checking meal accuracy, and helping ensure food carts leave the kitchen on schedule. Cleaning duties are also part of the position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a food handler's permit if required by state or county regulations.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience as a Diet Clerk or Nutrition Services Clerk in an acute care facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Distribute and collect menus, assist patients with diet orders, and process menus.
• Update patient kardexes to reflect diet changes and document ordered nourishments.
• Visit patients to gather food preferences and allergy information and document nutritional history.
• Complete production sheets and document special food requests.
• Check patient tray lines to ensure meals match prescribed diets and patient requests and are properly garnished.
• Prepare and check early trays and ensure food carts leave the kitchen at scheduled times.
• Perform cleaning duties.
