About The Position

The Nutrition Service Clerk helps prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients and crafts meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. The role supports patient nutrition services by coordinating diet orders, gathering patient food preferences and nutritional histories, and ensuring meals are prepared and delivered accurately.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a food handler's permit if mandated by state or county regulations.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience as a Diet Clerk or Nutrition Services Clerk in an acute care facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Distribute and collect menus, assist patients with diet orders, and process menus.
• Update patient kardex records to reflect diet changes and document ordered nourishments.
• Visit patients to gather food preferences and allergy information and document nutritional histories.
• Complete production sheets and document special food requests.
• Check patient tray lines to ensure meals meet diet requirements and patient requests and are properly garnished.
• Prepare and check early trays and ensure food carts leave the kitchen at scheduled times.
• Perform cleaning duties.
