About The Position

The Nutrition Service Clerk helps prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients and meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. The role supports patient nutrition services by managing menus and diet orders, documenting dietary information, checking meal trays, coordinating food carts, and performing cleaning duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a food handler's permit if mandated by state or county regulations.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience as a Diet Clerk or Nutrition Services Clerk in an acute care facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Distributes and collects menus, assists patients with diet orders, and processes menus.
• Updates patient kardex records to reflect diet changes and documents ordered nourishments.
• Visits patients to gather food preferences and allergy information and document nutritional history.
• Completes production sheets and documents special food requests.
• Checks patient tray lines to ensure meals meet diet requirements and patient requests and are properly garnished.
• Prepares and checks early trays and ensures food carts leave the kitchen at scheduled times.
• Performs cleaning duties.
