The Nursing Supervisor supervises nursing staff, assesses patient needs, and provides nursing care. The role plans and organizes unit staff training and participates in guidance and educational programs. It also coordinates nursing services, supports staff development, ensures nursing care is delivered and documented appropriately, and maintains patient and supply records.

Requirements

• Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Valid state Registered Nurse license.
• Valid BLS certification.
• Two years of nursing experience in a hospital.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Supervisory skills and ability to evaluate job performance.
• Ability to make decisions and accept responsibility for the work unit.
• Time management skills and ability to organize priorities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
• Good and regular attendance.
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate designated nursing staff; assign duties and coordinate nursing services.
• Participate in developing nursing protocols and procedures.
• Provide continuing education and staff development opportunities for nursing staff.
• Assess patient needs, participate in providing nursing care, and ensure services are carried out and documented appropriately.
• Maintain patient health care records.
• Maintain supply inventory records and order supplies and equipment as necessary.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
