About The Position

The Nursing Staffing Coordinator manages nursing schedules to support exceptional patient care and performs clerical duties. The role works with nursing leaders to improve staffing effectiveness, supports supervisors with schedule and staffing issues, and coordinates educational opportunities for nursing staff. Under the supervision of the CNO, the coordinator schedules and informs nursing staff of their assignments and distributes schedules in a timely manner. The position also maintains employee and contractor files in compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory standards, prepares professional correspondence and reports, and protects confidential employee personal and financial information.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in staffing or scheduling within a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with nursing leaders to identify improvements in the effectiveness of nursing department staffing.
• Assist and advise supervisors about problems with the nursing schedule.
• Ensure employee, contractor, and student files comply with Joint Commission and regulatory standards.
• Schedule educational opportunities for nursing staff.
• Under CNO supervision, schedule, coordinate, and inform nursing staff of their assigned schedules.
• Distribute the nursing schedule in a timely manner.
• Advise supervisors of staffing ratio problems.
• Draft professional and appropriate letters, emails, reports, and presentations.
• Maintain the confidentiality of employee personal and financial data.
